EN.Guadalajara is the second largest city in my country: Mexico, and fashion as one of the most important business of the region has great influence on the culture and development of this city as well as all Jalisco state; Because of this we have many events and places dedicated to promote investment as well as display the high quality and talented creations from Mexicans and Tapatios. Last week I have the opportunity to attend to IM65 Intermoda event where fall-winter collections from different Mexican companies has been displayed while conferences and workshops open to everybody but in focus for fashion entrepreneurs and businessmen happened at the same time on a dynamic and fresh event.
Runways
Amazingly I was not able to attend to ANY runway (T_T) but I take a look of all the pics and snaps and I can tell you miaus, Mexican designers are doing incredible good stuff! and I’m not talking only about clothing, also accessories and shoes. I think these events are important to allow local industry to have a spotlight on this globalized world where if is true social media is a great communication tool for fashion, is also true that trends are usually monopolized by large transnational companies; as I mention I miss all of them due to lack of time with my work but I’m definitely planning to go to all of them next year (IM66) to see these fabulous designs.
Brunch with designers ❤
The big deal about this event (at least for me) was I was guided! Ana Volta from Ka Volta! teach me and took me around the event, this was awesome because she give me the opportunity to meet designers on this brunch and to learn about all that happened during the event.
In the brunch we had the opportunity to meet the designers, ask them questions about their work as well as their life, Iwas able to touch the pieces fresh out of the catwalk, feel textures, see small details that made these great pieces and have a great time learning about how technology is being used to innovate in fashion and how designers approach their creations to the end customers doing a conscious creative process, understanding the needs of their customers. I think we all should have the opportunity to talk to designers more often because we could give them good feedback about their work but also they could explain us how they work so we could appreciate why the price of the designer creation is not only about raw material.
Designers:
